Lions Club

Director: Lucia Alegre
Producer: Manuela Iseas
Country: Argentina

For a moment, we all believed that we’d come out of the pandemic as better persons. Yet, we’re still caged animals: unhinged, filled with hunger and, at the same time, completely sedated, lying under the only available ray of sunlight entering the zoo.
This short film comes up as a way to set in order daily thoughts amid so much confinement, and to reach one conclusion: it’s impossible to produce a coherent train of thought.
As we move through the city with our faces half-covered, avoiding to go back home because there’s nothing new left to be experienced there, a thousand reflections and ideas, both great and mundane, crowd in on us, intertwine and get lost in a never-ending stream, in the middle of a not so cold wintry afternoon.

4.48//2020

Director: Maria Fernanda Jardi Espinosa
Country: Germany – México

This short film is based on Sarah Kane’s posthumous work, Psychosis 4.48, in which the author expresses her experience in psychiatric hospitals and clinical depression in a very personal way. Sarah Kane committed suicide after writing this text. In 4.48 // 2020 the isolation and fear caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the mandatory confinement, are the triggers of episodes of depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts of the protagonist. Loneliness as the main theme in contrast to the apparent multi connectivity that current technology allows us.
