SPECULATIVE ECOLOGIES
Short Films that explores the intersection between speculative ecology and feminist science fiction, imagining worlds where the human coexists with the technological, the geological, and the more-than-human.

GENERAL RULES
1. EVENT GOALS
VWFF is a safe space for Queer and FLINTA+ artists from around the world who wish to showcase their fiction, documentary, and/or experimental short films in Germany with English subtitles, in order to reach an international audience.
2. PARTICIPATION AND SUBMISSION
Submitted short films must meet the following requirements:
a) Short films with a maximum duration of 20 minutes will be accepted.
b) The film genre can vary and may include: documentary, fiction, experimental, animation, music video, video poetry, etc. as long as it fits within the context of the aforementioned categories.
c) The director and/or 50% of the team must be Queer or FLINTA+.
d) By submitting, applicants automatically grant the event organizers the right to use up to 2-minute excerpts from the film for the non-profit promotional broadcast of the festival through television, social media or other media channels, both during the festival and for related events afterward.
e) Copyright always belongs to the authors/directors and/or producers.
3. MATERIAL REQUEST
Initially, the organizing team will ask applicants to submit the completed registration form filled out by the copyright holder. The film copy should be in digital format via a link, such as Vimeo or YouTube. If the link is private, the password should be provided. The curatorial team will use the link for the selection process.
If the work is selected, the organizing team will contact the applicant to request an original copy of the short film, the corresponding English subtitles (even if the original language is already English) and information on social media and photographs for social media or another formats of advertising.
4. SELECTION
The authors of the selected works will be notified well in advance to allow them to send a screening copy in the appropriate format for exhibition.
5. SUBTITLES
As previously mentioned, we explicitly request that the nominated short films have English subtitles (even if the original language is already English). These must be provided by the applicants.
6. FEES, SHIPMENTS, AND RETURNS
The submission fee is 5 euros but will be waived if the applicant uses the code described in the Filmfreeway webpage.
Each applicant is responsible for the costs of sending screening copies and/or additional material requested by the festival. The festival will not accept the screening of short films that incur fees, taxes or additional charges.
Screening copies will only be returned upon express written request, specifying the destination and return date (distributors, producers, other festivals, etc.).
The participant bears the costs of return shipping. The festival will not cover any costs for damages due to the use of copies. The festival does NOT pay any screening fees or copyright payments.
7. PRESS AND PROMOTION
Directors and producers agree to actively share the festival on their social media channels. The films may be used in future VWFF events to promote the festival.
8. SCREENING FEES
VWFF will not make any monetary payments for any short film for exhibition or copyright reasons.
